Phoenix Comicon 2013 Cosplay and More
Okay, bear with me, this is going to be a long post, and it's mostly photos of AWESOME FREAKING COSPLAYS at Phoenix Comicon 2013.
The sad thing is, I probably got pictures of less than 1/4 of the amazing costumes running around that place. There were just so many people! The crowd above was what the entrance area looked like on Saturday morning...
Arcade Sona. I had to look up who the character was, evidentally from League of Legends. The costume looked amazing, and well worth a photo!
A na'vi from Avatar, right down to the wicked yellow contact lenses.
A quick stop by the AZ TARDIS table... not costumes here, but they have a TARDIS, and that makes them awesome.
I must have 30 pictures of this dalek by now, but I just can't get over how cool it is to have a full-sized, talking dalek wandering around the show floor!
But the Doctor will save us! (Those glasses, though... gah, I still can't get through that episode without wanting to curl into a little ball in the corner for a few hours afterward.)
While this costumer told me she was not dressed as any specific character, she looked really cool! I'm loving the green theme. The circle on her chest was actually a clever illusion, making it look like an infinitely deep hole through her torso!
Meanwhile, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I found Mace Windu...
And a frighteningly tall wookie!
Getting back to our own Galaxy, here's a female Shepard from Mass Effect...
...along with Liara and a male Shepard (armor by Allen Amis and worn by Chad Stafford, who you'll also see in a number of the photos with my Garrus)
From a different ship, here's Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Inara...
And here's an awesome cosplay of Vera along with some guy.
Okay, okay... I mean, here's an awesome cosplay of Jayne with his affectionately named gun. :)
Leaving the realm of sci-fi behind, we found a Dread Pirate Roberts! I had just asked Robbie the day before if he'd ever seen any Princess Bride cosplays, and lo and behold... Loved the little bottle of Iocaine poison he wore, too!
Velma and Scooby Doo!
A beautiful Victorian-style dress.
Victorian steampunk female Loki.
Two more female Lokis and a Thor...
Who promptly decided to do battle in front of our table!
Jon Snow. I don't think anyone could doubt that he has Stark blood in him.
Caught this fellow in a full scalemail shirt when we were all outside during the alarm on Sunday. Have to appreciate amazing armor!
Captain Jack Sparrow, stealing the show as always!
And speaking of pirates who steal the show, here's a great rendition of Isabela from Dragon Age II.
I love the gritty new version of Lara Croft, and this cosplayer pulled it off wonderfully!
Fairy tales too have become far more badass as time progresses, with both Red Riding Hood and the wolf looking equally deadly.
San and Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke. The half-mask as a good choice for San's outfit!
The Mad Hatter looked quite dapper...
But the Evil Queen was downright scary!
A photo simply does not do this zombie bride and groom justice. They sincerely acted the role out better than any other zombie I have ever run across, shuffling morosely along, debating which way to go in grunts and moans... they were hilariously creepy!
Richard, the delightfully sociopathic warlock from the webcomic Looking For Group. I told him if he posed for it, I'd photoshop him with a classic FWOOSH fireball... thus it was written, thus it shall be.
I wish I'd been able to photograph every costumer in the place! I love seeing the work people put into their outfits, and how much fun they have wandering the convention in them. Until next time!
