Sketch for an upcoming KNTR project

A work-in-progress sketch of a father dragon smiling as he and his child read a book together.

I'm very pleased to announce that I've been invited to be a contributing artist for the Kids Need to Read 2015 calendar! Kids Need to Read is a charity organization dedicated to getting books into the hands of kids everywhere, most especially in underfunded areas or those serving disadvantaged children. And THAT is a cause I can really get behind! I've been lucky to have access to amazing books and stories my whole life. I still have some of the first books I ever owned.

Reading is a tremendously fulfilling activity for kids. It takes them places that a television screen cannot. It fires their imaginations. It helps them grow!

The sketch above is the beginning phase of the illustration I will be donating to KNTR to appear in their calendar for 2015. I've been told that the 2015 calendar will become available beginning at Phoenix Comicon next June, and will also be available online at KNTR's store. In the meantime, I encourage you to check out their organization and especially the calendar they are currently selling for 2014. It features some truly lovely and inspiring artwork, and a couple of the artists are friends of mine as well!

I'll be posting updates as I finish my illustration and as I learn more about the calendar for 2015. Stay tuned...

Oh yes... and welcome back, October! Best month of the year. :D
