Dragon Age: Anders
If you aren't familiar with Dragon Age, this is Anders, a character who appears both in DA:Awakening and DA2. The years can certainly change a man! I got this idea to draw his younger and older self back-to-back, and then somewhere along the way, decided to add in significant buildings in the background on either side of him. And his cat, Ser Pounce-a-lot.
Kinloch Hold (Ferelden's Circle Tower) was relatively simple, but the Kirkwall chantry building was wonderfully complicated! I have a whole new level of appreciation for the amount of detail that got put into the city of Kirkwall. The Tevinter statuary is amazing. And I really did want to do the chantry justice. Pun intended. :) The level of detail on the DA2 costumes is very nice too, but I especially liked Anders' two outfits. Very rebel mage-ish. :D
Incidentally, it was right about the time I was finished with this painting that a workmate sent out an e-mail looking for a home for a foundling kitten. Long story short, that's how I ended up with our cute, hyperactive orange tabby, Pouncer - which is, of course, short for Ser Pounce-a-lot. It was kind of like a little piece of the painting coming to life!
