Imagination

Imagination by Sarrah Wilkinson - A digital illustration of a child doing battle with an imaginary monster among all the things that have been thrown away.

I certainly believe this is the most detailed piece I've tackled so far, including dozens of little details and surprises. Even though the objects in the picture will just be objects to most people, almost everything in it has special significance to me. Take that for what you will. :)

This one started sometime back in the mid-90s, when I drew a picture of a dragon made of various household objects. At the time, I called it "Overactive Imagination" - but I think that was a misnomer. An active imagination is one of the most valuable things a person can have! I've wanted to revisit this idea for years, and finally decided the time was right.

When I showed it to friends, some of them saw the hidden image right away and some didn't. One even started seeing more hidden imagery than I'd intended! But that is the simple beauty of imagination.
